Commissioning Unique Gifts
Having trouble shopping for the perfect gift? Want to get something that’s personalized for yourself or a loved one? I’ll work with you to make that special, handmade needlefelted item, be it a hard-to-find favorite animal, a specific beloved pet, cryptid, or an original creature for your D&D game.
How it Works
Step 01
Commission Inquiry
Text or email me that you have a commission inquiry. Describe what you have in mind:
-
What critter(s) do you want made?
-
Quantity of needlefelted critters
-
What size do you want?
-
Do you want it to be a bead, ornament, keychain, pin, doll, etc…?
-
In what style (chibi or realistic)?
-
Do you want it to have a wire armature? (for larger sizes)
-
Do you want a particular pose? (Ex: bird with closed or open wings)
I will then give you a quote for the price. In general, the bigger and more appendages it has, the more expensive.
We'll discuss payment method and how/where you want to receive your needlefelted critter.
*While I do my best to keep materials separated, please let me know if you have allergies. I use sheep & alpaca wool, angora rabbit fur, and I have dogs.
Step 02
References
Once we’ve agreed on what your commission is, I will need to make a turn-around reference sheet for it. For example, if it’s a pet, I will need you to send me clear photos of them from multiple angles: their belly, front, backside, left-side, right-side, and from above. This will allow me to see as many details of your pet to recreate into the needlefelted model as accurately as possible.
Similarly, if the commission is an original character, mythical beast or cryptid, I’ll need references to make a turn-around for the 3D model. You can send me examples, and I’ll draw a reference turn-around for you to approve.
If you’re requesting a needlefelt critter that I’ve already made, this step can be skipped. You can ask for different colors to be used.
Step 03
Needlefelting & Checking in
Using the turn-around reference sheet as a guide, I will start needlefelting the body. I'll send you photos at different stages to make sure you’re happy with the shape and pose of the base.
I will also find the colors of the roving wool I have that best match those in the reference photos/sketches. I’ll then send you a photo of them to get your approval before I start adding the colors onto the base.
Step 04
It’s Alive!
When your commission is complete, I’ll send you photos of your critter from different angles for a turn-around view. With your final stamp of approval, we can then move on to paying me & getting your critter into your hands.
Also, let me know if you would like to add your testimonial to this website, and I can add a portfolio page dedicated to showing off your commissioned needlefelted critter.

FAQ
Here are the most frequently asked questions.
If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please Reach Out
-
What is needlefelting?Sheep’s wool fibers have little ‘hooks’ along them. The specialized needles I use to needlefelt have grooves along them that catches those ‘hooks’, so when I stab the wool, it makes a knot. The more I stab the wool, the tighter the knot gets, and I can ‘mold' those knots into shapes. Likewise, felt fabric is made a similar way, only machines use a LOT more needles to stab the fibers to make the uniformed sheets of felt.
-
How can I contact you about a commission? You can text me at (603) 489-8019 with “Commission Inquiry” in the message, and I’ll respond as quickly as I can. Please, DO NOT CALL - I don’t answer phone calls. You can also send me a message on this website’s “Inquiry” page, and I will email you back as soon as possible.
-
What if the needlefelt critter I got from you gets damaged?Contact me and we can make arrangements to I can see if I can repair it.
-
Do you use other animal’s other than sheep wool for needlefelting?Yes, I use alpaca wool and angora rabbit fur. They are both a lot softer than sheep’s wool. They can come in natural colors and dyed to provide a wider various colors. I do use alpaca and rabbit to color over the wool base of my needlefelt critters.
-
What if I have allergies?Let me know if you have animal allergies to sheep, alpaca, and rabbits. I do my best to keep and store all the different animal wool/fur separate from each other. That said, I can’t always guarantee they haven’t before I purchased them or got mixed by mistake later. If you have other allergies you may be concerned about, let me know.
